Richard W. "Dick" Rauch of New Paltz, a former longtime resident of the Monticello area, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. He was 89.
The son of Slovenian immigrants, Matthew Rauch and Anna Curl Rauch, he was born February 14, 1928 in Brooklyn. He was the widower of Patricia Sturgis Rauch who predeceased him on March 20, 2010. He was a very caring and kind man who did not say much, but when he did it was worth listening too. He was a New York State Trooper for 23 years and served in the armed forces.
He is survived by two sons; Richard S. Rauch and his wife Debbie of New Paltz, NY, & John M. Rauch and his wife Doren of Palm Harbor, FL; a daughter; Lauren Carmody and her husband Ian of Bridgewater, NJ; six grandchildren; Shane, Emma, Kylen and Kiera Carmody, & Dylan and Max Rauch; as well as numerous lifelong friends. His family is thankful for the endless love, laughs and support. He will be deeply missed by all.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, February 24th at 11:30am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
