Obituary of William Peter Lindsay
William Peter Lindsay, "Pete" a lifelong resident of Wurtsboro and a retired vocational print instructor at Woodbourne Correctional Facility, passed Friday, December 8, 2017 at home surrounded by family. He was 69.
The son of the late Harold W. Lindsay and Betty Smithem Lindsay, he was born August 19, 1948 in Monticello.
After high school Pete joined the United States Army to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He was a proud supporter of the United States military until his final day. He was a member of the Blue Knights and enjoyed spending his time riding his motorcycle or cruising around in his cherished Corvette. He was a skilled mechanic and was often found helping friends fix or restore their cars and motorcycles. People will remember his love for classic cars, crossword puzzles and Danny's Restaurant. But most of all people will remember his generosity and willingness to help regardless of his own circumstances. He was a kind person with a large heart who enjoyed sharing fond memories with those closest to him. Family was most important to him and in his eyes if you were a friend you were part of his family.
He is survived by his children Sean Lindsay (Cassie) of Wurtsboro, NY and Arianne Lindsay (Todd) of Rock Hill, NY; his beloved "granddogs and grandcats" Holly, Emily, Allie, Pepper, Marvin and Remi; his close and longtime friends Walt and Judy Finkle of Summitville, NY and Karen LeVan of Center Point, IN; Dear friends Dianne and Cindy as well as many cherished others.
