Obituary of Gary O'Donnell

Gary Robert O'Donnell of Grahamsville, a local mechanic and lifelong resident of the area, passed away with his family by his side Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 at the young age of 57.

The son of the late Lawrence G. O'Donnell Sr. and Doris L. Creeden-O'Donnell, he was born July 13, 1960 in Middletown.

As an avid race car driver and pit member of many teams at Bethel Motor Speedway, he was a two time over all track champion there in 1979 and 1995. As well as winning over 150 feature wins between three separate tracks. He was a past member of the Grahamsville Fire Department and was a current member of Chi-Town Large Cars where helping people proved to be his favorite hobby. However, his greatest pride and accomplishments came from his family.

He is survived by his daughter: Serra Gene O'Donnell (Ryan McDowall); a son: Daniel O'Donnell; his long-time companion Debra Newell; two bonus children: Ashley & Joshua Johnson; five grandchildren: Kayleigh, Gabriella, Patrick Daniel, Isabella & Leroy Jr.; Sisters: Tammy (Andy Reagan); Audrey (Larry Valentia); Brothers: Larry Jr. O'Donnell (Heather Mann); Jerry O'Donnell; nephew: Christopher Cooper; nieces: Shelby O'Donnell and Ashley Valentia; Serra's mother Faith (Keith Moore) and his favorite "granpups" Turbo & Daisy.

Family & friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 9th from 9:00am to 11:00 am at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a funeral service starting at 11am. Burial will follow at the Bullville Cemetery.
