Obituary of Frances Falcone
Frances Elaine Falcone, beloved mother and wife, of Forestburgh passed away on Oct. 21, 2018, after a courageous 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Frances was born in May 14, 1951 to Lillian and Michael Vasti in New York City. She grew up in the Bronx, attending St. Theresa Elementary School and St. Catharine Academy high school. She earned an associate degree in business management from the State University of New York at Delhi.
Frances met her future husband Robert when they were 15; they married five years later, in 1971. They moved to Sullivan County in 1973. She worked for Cohen's Lumber, Monticello, until it closed in 1985 and then worked as assistant controller at Ultra Power Corporation in Monticello until her retirement. Frances loved her family and would look forward to vacations spent with them. Well-known for her cooking, she enjoyed dinners with family and friends. She was an avid reader of mysteries and loved traveling with her husband. A member of St. Peter's Parish in Monticello, she served as a catechist, Eucharistic minister and lector and was a member of the Parish Council.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, at home; her cherished daughter Andrea Falcone of Livingston Manor; her sister Toni (Bob) Potter of Westville, Ill.; her brother-in-law Ronald Falcone (Julia) of Dalton, Pa.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her mother- and father-in-law, Marie and Andrew Falcone.
The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses who fought with her this unrelenting disease; we are so thankful for the care and compassion showed by them. We appreciate the outpouring of good wishes and prayers of family, friends and parishioners of St. Peter's Church, Monticello. Her sister Toni and husband Bob, as well as her dear friends, Ann and Richard Shaw and Eileen and Tom Casey-Leek, were so kind and caring during these last 18 months. Her pastor, Rev. John Tran, was a source of comfort and support to her and her family.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, Oct. 26, from 3-5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at St. Peter's Church, Broadway and Liberty Street, Monticello, with Father John Tran officiating. Burial will follow at Lew Beach Cemetery, Lew Beach.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Church, 10 Liberty St., Monticello, NY 12701; or to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 (www.hospiceoforange.com/ways-to-give/).
