Obituary of Shiketta M. McCune

Shiketta Monique McCune departed this life on Friday, June 7, 2019 at her home in Monticello surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 12, 1977 in Monticello to her parents Leon McCune and Emma McCune.

Shiketta graduated from Monticello High School in 1995 and attended Morrisville and Brockport Colleges. She became a member and was baptized and saved at the Bethlehem Temple Church in Monticello. She worked at the library and FCI Communications in Liberty and was also employed by Perry Meltzer. Shiketta enjoyed and loved reading, and she wrote her book "Slaves to Food: America's Addiction Crisis", published in 2016. She also enjoyed knitting and coordinating special occasions. Shiketta will be missed by all of her loved ones.

She was predeceased by her father Leon and her grandmother Angie Larkin. Shiketta leaves behind several loved ones especially her mother Emma; brother Charles, uncles David and Willie from Georgia, aunt Hannah Smalls from South Carolina, her godmother Joyce Copel, and several cousins and friends.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 11:00am at the Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Road in Monticello. Viewing is from 10-11am at the church. Cremation will follow the services and interment of her ashes will be held at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello at a later date.
