Obituary of George R. Ehrets
George R. Ehrets of Forestburgh, a retired self-employed logger and lifelong resident of the area, passed away peacefully at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty on Tuesday July 27, 2021 at the age of 96.
The son of the late Arthur G. Ehrets and Nellie Kinnie Ehrets of Forestburgh, he was born May 14, 1925 in Monticello. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II from 1943 to 1946.
He is survived by a daughter: Marie Livingston of Eldred; a son: Carl Ehrets of Forestburgh; a granddaughter: Laurel (Jim) Rourke of Connecticut; a grandson: Russell (Gabby) Ehrets of Virginia Beach; a great granddaughter: Emilia Rose Ehrets of Virginia Beach; a nephew: Fred Schreiber; and a daughter-in-law: Carol (Fred) of Forestburgh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Alice Ehrets in 2020; and a son: Walter Ehrets of Forestburgh.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan Co. Veterans Cemetery in Liberty. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the immediate family.
